thewhitemoonfamily: silvermoon424: psychofishie: I swear this is my most used sentence of all time. I use the phrase “Japanese cartoons” to describe anime to people who don’t know what it is, but after that point, I will ruthlessly correct anyone who calls anime “cartoons.” Idk man, there needs to be a distinction. Of course there should be! If there is a distinction between cartoons, like Powerpuff Girls, and animated comedies, like Family Guy, then people should realize anime is in a whole different category.  I know how pissed my friends used to get when I’d call their shows cartoons, and they’re like its ANIMATED COMEDIES. So then don’t call anime “cartoons” then.
